Lunch at the Raw Kitchen- Fremantle

Yesterday was a pretty fabulous day! Primarily because I got to experience the awesomeness that is the Raw Kitchen in Fremantle (we don't live very close to Freo, so this was a pretty big deal)
You see in Kallaroo (the area I live in) we don't have any vegan/raw/ anything other than fast food joints really, we definitely don't have wholefoods or any other cool place I'm always seeing on all of the American foodie blogs!
Anywho.. back to the point... yesterday mum and I braved the busy streets and winding roads and annoying tom tom to find this awesome warehouse.
It was soo cool, huge, different recycled stuff everywhere, there were even those big shipping boxes cut in half to create a little sitting area!
There was a smoothie bar, a little shop, a takeaway area in the middle and seating all around. Pretty much all the drinks came in jars!

I love it when I can go to a restaurant and be stuck for choice! (I've have never been in that situation before)

After deliberating for a looong time I finally decided on the raw nachos with guacamole, walnut mince and cashew sour cream. I also got a ginger kombucha (something I constantly see on American blogs)

It was pretty much ginger beer! (my favourite soft drink ever that I haven't had in over a year!)

Happy Steph

Mum got the raw pizza with salad
 I hated it:
;)
After a fabulous lunch we stopped over at their little shop (maca powder, raw food bars, banana flour?) and I bought this:

My smoothies are gonna look fab (and smoothies always taste better in glass)
So all in all... it was AWESOME! I just wish it ws closer to home so I could get a job there #perfectjob
This morning I made a smoothie! (surprise)
It was soooo yummy:
One chopped frozen banana + 1 tablespoon peanut butter + 1 scoop vanilla protein powder + 3 spoons of greek yoghurt + sprinkle of chia seeds + 1 cup oat milk = vanilla cheesecake smoothie!
I also made some plain steel cut oats sprinkled with cinnamon:

Seriously try this smoothie- you won't be disappointed!

WIAW #13

Hidy-ho everybody! It's Wednesday once again and I have managed to photograph everything that entered my tummy in the past 24-hours. I'm gonna call it-Breakfast to breakfast!
Not sure what WIAW is? Head on over to Peas and Crayons to find out!

Breakfast (24-hours prior)
I cooked up some steel-cut oats, which is something I've never tried before before quick-cooking oats are just so much.. quicker! Seeing as I have extra time in the mornings thanks to school holidays, I let these oats bubble away for a good 20 mins, adding some banana and pb near the end:
I alos made some berry yoghurt (mixed frozen berries, thawed, whazzed up with some greek yoghurt:
And that was breakfast!

Lunch:
This was pretty breakfasty (in everyone elses eyes but mine) it was a toasted whole-grain bun, which was filled with a sweet potato and cashew dip, grilled eggplant, grilled capsicum, sliced tomato, spinach and two poached eggs.
After toasting it was topped with some guacamole (1/2 an avo+ 1 teaspoon lemon juice+ some chives and chopped chilli, all mashed together)
Things got messy.. :)
Afternoon snack:
You guessed it! Fruit and soy milk!
Dinner:
Roasted white sweet potato wedges topped with some coconut butter, some grilled tempeh and a quinoa and carrot salad.
I'm still not sure I like tempeh, but I keep trying to see if the taste will grow on me :)
The salad was just steamed purple and orange carrot circles and some steamed corn mixed with tri-coloured quinoa, spinach and lemon juice.

Back to breakfast:
This was today's brekky:
A green thickie with chocolate peanut butter granola :)
The smoothie's  based off this recipe minus the nut butter:

I also added some greek yoghurt (optional)
The granola...
about a 3/4 cup muesli mixed with:
1 tablespoon nut butter (I used peanut butter) a dash of cinnamon, 1 tablespoon raw cacao and about just under a 1/4 cup milk (I used oat milk)
Heated in the microwave for about 30 seconds and then stirred until combined:
Mixed in with muesli:
and baked in an oven at 180 degrees celsius for around 15 mins (it won't be crisp, but I like mine sort of doughy anyway :)
And combine!
Sweet creamy green smoothie + bitter, rich chocolate granola= goooood
You all know how this beautiful breakfast ended though, don't you...

Nice and ugly!
And there we go. 24 hours of food from me to you!
Don't forget to head on over to Peas and Crayons (when the link-up is up) to check out what everyone else has been eating on this fine Wednesday!
Have a great day! :D

Hi my name is Steph...

Hi my name is Steph and I love... cooking!
'Hi Steph.'
Ok, ok you all know that about me.. I mean I write a food/cooking blog! However, it may surprise you.. but I do have other hobbies that make me, me. Yes I am first and foremost referred to as 'Steph, the one who loves to cook!' or by my friends as 'Steph the one who doesn't eat doughnuts, or chips and instead brings fruit with her everywhere she goes'

I also love to bake. (um.. that's cooking!) I love to bake desserts (not healthified versions) that don't show up on this blog. For instance last Christmas I gave myself the ginormous challenge of making Zumbo's famous gingerbread house!

It took me about 2 full days.
I also bake really simple fun things:
Halloween cookies:
Choc chip cupcakes filled with choc chip cookie dough, with buttercream frosting and a mini choc chip cookie:
I sort of combined the next hobbie into one..
I love playing the flute (and recently the saxophone) and also photography:

Yes, that is my flute and my mad photography skillz!
Lastly I love to draw.
This is my drawing of Emma Watson:
So now you can see there's more to me than cookies and smoothies.
Speaking of smoothies, who wants a simple and delicious recipe! :)
Frozen grape + peanut butter smoothie:
All you do is freeze about 15 black grapes (or any grapes- black for the colour) the night before and then whaz it up with 1/12 a banana (use the other half and make cookies or crepes!) 1 big tablespoon of peanut butter and some milk (I used oat milk and about 11/2 cups)
Yum!
