Oh yeah, I definitely believe my blog name should be in capitals. And flashing lights. And glitter.
Yep.
Moving on.
Anywho, today I've got for you a super fun and even outdoor-sy workout that I came up with the other day approximately 15 or so minutes before I actually did it at like 5:45am...
See, what happened there was that I had planned a super intense and brutal leg workout with weights etc. and had laid out all my weights and medicine ball and dumbells and barbell etc. the day before so it was all ready for me- no excuses.
And then when I woke up the next morning my head just wasn't in it. To get through this I knew I had to make this workout fun- so fun-it-up I did!
The way I do fun with my workouts is I do challenging. Like let's see if we can do this- and then surprise myself with the fact that I can- this being how I came up with this workout;
The 500 workout:
So yeah, I took this bad boy outside with me, smashed it out (my warm up was a lap of my yard doing walking lunges with dumbbells and then 8 x full barbell dead lift to snatch up into low squats and that's how I finished off too along with some calf exercises with the barbell- calf raises and squats etc.
And my legs were thoroughly jell-i-fied!
As was my face apparently... :P
No, but seriously, all in all it was a super enjoyable, fun and energising workout that made me feel happy and strong and really motivated me which is key to enjoying exercise and getting out there and doing it! Exercise can and should be flexible to fit with your needs and desires and honestly, a brutal leg workout needs one tough mind and I'll save that for another day when I'm feeling extra strong in the mental department!!
And how did I refuel??
With some chocolate of course!
In the form of a super creamy, delicious, chocolate protein thickshake!!
To make this bad boy I simply popped 2 frozen banana, 1 large handful frozen zucchini, 4 chunks frozen spinach, 3 scoops greek yoghurt, 1 scoop Sunwarrior choc protein powder and 1 heaped tablespoon peanut butter into my Vitamix with a splash of water and whazzed up until smoothie smooth:
Popped into the jar and into the freezer for a few mins to thicken up and then utterly devoured in slurp form!
I love this kind of meal post-workout (especially workouts with weights) as it delivers all those essential nutrients back to those tired and fatigued muscles almost instantly. Oh and did I mention it tastes like a chocolate thick shake??
So the take away message- you do you when it comes to fitness; don't do what you think you should be doing to get those results- fitness is flexible and should be fun and enjoyable- waking up and not feeling it? Change it, don't just give up! That's my biggest tip for keeping motivated with exercise!
And also breakfast should be delicious. And taste like dessert. Always.
I hope you enjoyed this little post and give this workout a try the next time your in the mood/ at the gym etc. And if not, atleast give the smoothie a try- you will not be dissapointed!!
Tell me:
What's your favourtie workouts consisting of at the moment?
Fav way to keep workouts fun and keep you motivated?
Fav smoothie recipe??
Have a wonderful day my friends, do something you love that makes you happy, spend time with those you love and smile! And as always; EAT SOMETHING DELICIOUS!! Bye for now friendly friends!!! :D
